After a number of years, the Deer Park Club has brought the first stage of its masterplan to fruition.

Looking back on early proposals, Bate Architecture welcomed the opportunity to review the brief. The result is a stronger outcome.

What do you do when the whole building is worn out and passed it? Unfortunately when the budget gives out, some of the 'need to be fixed' parts have to remain. But in focusing on getting part of the Club absolutely right, and not trying to spread a little money too thinly over the whole project, the venue is rocking.

Design and management have combined to lift the success of the venue. The growth figures are close to the best for similar metropolitan Melbourne clubs.

The design was awarded Best Renovation at the recent Club Vic Awards.

The Club's accountant, Peter Vasta comments, "The managers are really switched on and have worked hard to motivate their staff."

The design is, on one hand, a machine for hospitality services, and on the other hand, the symbol of Deer Park's unique offering in the community.  The layout is easy to read.  Patrons find what they need and where to go in the club. They are warmly greeted on arrival and the welcome extends throughout the venue.
